Job Overview:  We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Assistant Manager, Legal to join our legal team. This role is essential to ensuring that our organization adheres to regulatory standards while providing sound legal guidance. The successful candidate will play a key role in analyzing regulatory impacts, reviewing legal documents, managing legal risks, and supporting stakeholder needs. The ideal candidate will have a solid foundation in law, strong critical thinking skills, and the ability to communicate effectively across various levels of the organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Analyze updated regulations for their impact on the organization and promptly share insights with relevant stakeholders.
  • Conduct final reviews on Agreements and MoUs escalated from subordinates, and when delegated, perform initial reviews or draft such documents as instructed by the Head of Legal and Compliance Section.
  • Address medium legal risk issues internally and externally, with the exception of those involving regulators.
  • Draft submission letters to regulators, ensuring accuracy before they are submitted to the Head of Legal and Compliance Section.
  • Maintain a comprehensive record of all agreements and monitor their extension or renewal status, ensuring compliance with established timelines set by subordinates.
  • Manage customer complaints categorized as low and medium-level complaints in accordance with the organization’s Complaint Handling Policy.
  • Provide robust legal opinions to stakeholders based on regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
  • Oversee court cases filed against the organization, ensuring effective legal strategy and representation.
  • Ensure timely performance of regulatory obligations by subordinates.
  • Review reports submitted by subordinates for consistency, accuracy, and legality prior to submission to the Head of Legal and Compliance Section.
  • Carry out additional tasks as assigned by the line manager.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Law or a related field.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in a legal role.
  • Strong critical thinking and analytical skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to solve problems effectively.
  • Understanding of the banking industry’s business activities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Proficient in English at an intermediate level or above.
  • Responsive, cooperative, and committed to achieving team goals and objectives.
